Limp beauty drops like spiders from
silk; stars fall to their knees.
Now you understand?
My little kiss!
My little wish for after-flowers
of genocide; lush with knowing
and innocence.
Not thankless, no!
Not ignorant as much as the
narrow sister that floats
over blue bells every six years or so.
Just simple, and simply a
slow desire for Gratitude.
Maggie, that first line is powerful. I’m puzzle though, about the metaphor of the narrow sister.
Hi Talia. It is a reference to a personal relationship. To me, represents selfishness and materialism.
To me it represented something ominous, like a comet perhaps. Thanks for clarification Maggie.
That is why I love poetry. It can be interpreted so differently to different people!
“after-flowers” is a gorgeous phrase. This piece has so many layers.
Thank you Carolin. You have a pretty name. 🙂
