pretty girl in peach giggles
making wishes,
blowing quiet whispers off
wild flowers
pick all the petals you
can find before they die
green ropes soak up air
from my lungs
I wish
I wish in silence
not for me – I am done
but for a lifetime of
blowing kisses in
spring winds,
making giggles grow faster
than wild flowers
and petals that live forever in
the yellow sunburst around
your pupils
pretty girl in my stilettos
wishing to grow and grow
I wish
I wish in silence
not for me – I am done
but for a slow life
of sweet summer banana juice
and rain
a garden of imagination and
when you are done
I wish
I wish in silence
not for me
but for a lifetime of love
wonderful poem
Thank you very much
I have to say that all too often, I find modern poetry to be not-so-engaging, but I really love this!
Thank you! This one is different than the type of writing I normally do….but its for my daughter and I used pictures of her in my mind while I wrote this one and it came out very differently….but I’m liking it š
Beautiful poem. I really enjoyed reading this. š
Thank you!!
Never stop being a lady or a girl.
š Thank you very much!
I second the comment of geo sans. Absolutely wonderful. Voice, rhythm, sound, sentiment – home run! —Chagall
Thank you!!
A very nice departure indeed, milady. Your feelings came through in crystal clarity; I knew it was for your little girl by the fourth stanza. Beautiful, as she must be, if she shares her mother’s spirit…
