Blurry Thursday

I woke up stained this morning,
dripping off last night’s polish.
My black eyes watched
him cover his tattoos,
blurry Thursday.

He left early and I wrung myself out.
My senses were in shock and I drifted
away with them, deep into
his shadow. He isn’t coming back.

About Maggie Mae

"I write because I must". I am a poet of dark imagery. I write what I feel and how I see the world at given moments. I love connecting with other writers and seeing life through their eyes, (in words). If you like what you find here, please check out my chapbook, Some Things Ache In The Dark. It is available @ http://writingknightspress.blogspot.com/2013/05/some-things-ache-in-dark-by-maggie-mae.html.

  1. Maggie, you didn’t stop this one heart from breaking with this poem. But it was a masterpiece… :) Eric

  2. Your tags are all ones I use. Maybe we have something in common.

  3. I am amazed at how much emotion you can pack into so few words. Your poetry is truly a piece of visual art.

  4. Powerful piece. I enjoyed it, but I was brought into a deep place.

  5. Your way with words is astonishing.

  6. Nothing wrong
    ===========

If you want to have just love, here you are:

As sleeping with a man that you never knew before,
It is the right punishment that everyone deserves,
“No, no man, forget the second chance,
And, don’t ever come back to her.”

  8. That’s very good. I like the ‘I woke up stained’. It reminds me of that song that begins ‘Stained sheets..’ but it has a much less victim-ish tone.

  9. Stained is a word that really sticks for me. What can be deeper than something that can’t be removed. And all the other comments just keep me thinking really liked this here

  10. Perhaps it is good that he isn’t coming back? I am left contemplative after reading this, very much enjoyed reading it. Thank you for sharing. :)

  11. Wow. Right between my eyes and straight to the heart
